Fintechs tap education credit, players report volume surge

Uganda’s education financing gap is drawing increased attention from fintech players, as new partnerships seek to ease the burden of school fees on households. Furaha Finserve Uganda says the growth in digital payments is attracting more financial institutions into the education finance space.

In a move aimed at easing this pressure, Furaha Finserve Uganda Limited has partnered with SurePay, a leading school payments aggregator, to expand access to affordable and seamless school fees financing across the country.
Parents paying fees through the SurePay platform will now be able to access purpose based school fees loans instantly at the point of payment, offering a timely solution that helps keep learners in school without disruption.

Furaha, Opportunity Bank, MTN partner to offer education financing

Furaha, a financial technology business has entered into partnership with Opportunity Bank and MTN mobile money to offer education financing to Ugandans. The partnership announced on Wednesday will see Furaha enable Ugandans acquire loans from Opportunity Bank through MTN mobile money.
